A win-win negotiation? Truman
Back in January I got on a Hockey Romance kick and one of my favorite discoveries was Anna Sugden’s A Perfect Distraction! I anxiously awaited the July release of book two, A Perfect Trade – and I was not disappointed!
We got to know Tru and Jenny in book 1, as Bad-Boy’s closest friend and the team’s puck bunny of choice. I’ll be honest, I was nervous about getting to know Jenny better. Puck Bunny’s have sort of a low standing in my social world (as in, I can’t imagine being one and don’t have a ton of respect for them!) but Jenny was different from the beginning and this story just proves that! I was so invested in their romance that I couldn’t quit turning the pages!
Character development in this book was one of the high points for me. Tru and Jenny both grew by leaps and bounds over the course of the story, and while they both made some bone-headed choices? I couldn’t help but love them all the more for those choices!
Anna Sugden’s writing is phenomenal, she’s one of those authors that you can absolutely get lost in the pages with! (And I loved that – I was so sucked in I was hoping Tru would pick Colorado if his contract with the Ice Cats fell through because I would love to see him as an Av! Then I got snapped back to reality, and realized it didn’t matter what team he picked because he’s a fictional character!)
My only disappointment is that the book ended. (And that it’s not clear if there will be a book three in the Ice Cats series – although I am holding out hope! Perhaps one of Tru’s brothers?)
If you’re a fan of Jaci Burton or Jill Shalvis (or my beloved Toni Aleo, Catherine Gayle and Jami Davenport) I think you will absolutely love getting lost in the pages of an Anna Sugden book – although I definitely recommend starting with A Perfect Distraction so you can get to know this world a little better!
