He won't hesitate to put his life on the line…but will he ever risk his heart?Falling for Justice Garrett was a high point in Patience McGraw's otherwise awkward adolescence. Even after he disappeared, Patience never forgot the boy who captured her heart. Now he's back in Fool's Gold, California, and her passion for him is as strong as ever. But how can she trust that he won't abandon her again—and her daughter, too? When bodyguard Justice Garrett was a young man, witness protection brought him to this idyllic town and he never forgot its warmth, or the sweet beauty of his childhood friend. He's returned to open a defense academy, and the Patience he once knew is all grown up. He can't resist her smile, or her curves. But Justice's past doesn't make him husband, or father, material.Patience and Justice think they'll succumb to just one kiss… Then one more… Okay, just one night together. But they might learn that falling in love is beyond anyone's control.

I have been a huge fan of Susan Mallory’s Fool’s Gold books for a long time, in fact? This series is actually what brought me to the book blogging world! One of the things I look forward to every spring is the release of the new Fool’s Gold books, and this year was no different! (So a HUGE thank you to Harlequin and Netgalley for letting me read an advance copy of this book!)

The 14th book set in Fool’s gold (FOURTEEN!!) is perhaps my favorite of the series! There were so many laugh out loud moments I can’t even begin to count them! And Sam? He’s got to be my favorite hero. Has to be. (Aside from being a famous football player, there is something about him that is just ridiculously easy to relate too!)  And Dellina is pretty fantastic too, finally letting her hair down and having fun after raising her sisters.

But the best parts of this book? (Surprisingly NOT the relationship between Dellina and Sam!) First we have Dellina’s sister, trying to convince her boyfriend to propose AFTER she told hi not too. (It sounds, odd, but it’s amazing!) And Sam plays into this in the most perfect way. But even better? The storyline of Sam’s parents! I am so in love with this story! And I can’t stop laughing at it. They are the most awkward and embarrassing parents ever! (I suppose the easiest way to describe it is that Sam’s mom is a motivational speaker, but her topic? Sex!)

Before We Kiss has all the things I love about Susan Mallory and Fool’s Gold! With the perfect set up for the next books as well! Which is fantastic, because it means that there is plenty more Fool’s Gold coming!
