This is a novella of second epilogues to books 1-4 in the Portland Storm series. It is approximately 35,000 words long.
It’s the NHL’s draft day, but the whole Portland Storm team is back together for an entirely different event. Complete with a double wedding, an unanticipated guest, overdue apologies, unexpected goodbyes, and fresh starts, this big day has the potential to get them all called for a Double Major.
Is it October yet? (By the time this review posts, we’re mere days – DAYS – away from the first puck drop of the NHL season!!) Catherine Gayle’s Portland Storm books have been a GREAT placeholder while I anxiously await the return of my favorite sport! So when Catherine contacted me about reading and reviewing this novella that doubles as an epilogue for all of the books so far? I couldn’t wait to get started!
I have to admit – I wasn’t sure what I was getting. I got Catherine’s email, I said “DUH! OF COURSE!” and I started reading. So I have to admit at this point? I was a slight bit disappointed. I wanted the novella to focus on one couple (ok, I’ll be honest – I was hoping for more focus on Katie and Babs (like Taking A Shot part two!) But once I got over that? I really loved this book!
The setting is Zee/Dana and Eric/Rachel‘s double wedding! (And I agree – the double wedding is a bit cheesy – but it’s ok! Because the Portland Storm are that amazing.) And we open with Babs, waiting to hear news on his brothers Draft. We also get to see a bit of the rest of the crew, as they head off on summer vacation to points unknown!
I don’t want to give too much away, each couple only gets a couple of pages – so to give many details would be tough! But let me tell you this? As is the norm for Catherine? We get a moment of “NO! You cannot do that to a character!!” But no matter what? If you’re a fan of sports romance? You should be a fan of the Portland Storm!
