Series: Blooming Goddess #3
Published by Te Da Media on 2014-03-20
Genres: Greek Mythology, Young Adult
To say that Sophie Bloom is at the top of her game with one only week until spring equinox and the final showdown with Zeus and Hades would be, well, lying. The Goddess of Spring feels more like the Goddess of Bzz Thanks For Playing than the savior of humanity. And could her relationships be any more messed up? Good times. Sophie is convinced that things can't get any worse than crawling back to her mother Demeter and begging for help. But she's about to find out how very wrong she is. It's a race against time for Sophie to implement the big battle strategy in the YA romantic comedy/Greek mythology finale My Life From Hell. Love meets comedy with a whole lot of sass in book three of this teen fantasy romance series. Save herself; save the world. Humanity may be screwed.
My Co-Blogger (and book BFF, DeAnna) introduced me to Tellulah Darling’s …From Hell series awhile back (I suppose the actual title is The Blooming Goddess – but I prefer …From Hell!) (She’s actually already reviewed My Life From Hell, if you’re curious about her thoughts!) I am a huge Mythology nerd, especially when it comes to Persephone! (My cat shares her name, if that’s any indication to how much I adore her!) So I was destined to love this series! (Well, at least I like to think so!)
When we last saw Sophie in My Date From Hell, she’d just been stabbed and we were left with an epic cliffhanger. Fortunately, I had no trouble getting back into this story (which I often worry about with a gap between books) and the final installment in this trilogy was off to a running start.
Sophie and Kai are still having their communication issues – which I love! This makes them more realistic to me! (Yes, I know – Greek Mythology is not realistic in modern society, but shhh!! Let me live in my own world here!) And the rest of our beloved characters – Specifically Festos and Theo – are back, with many more!
I have to say that I totally agree with DeAnna in her review, there is a totally unexpected twist that left me confused. So confused I set the book down for awhile. But after clearing my mind, I was able to pick up, re-read about three chapters and was back running. (And it may have just been my frame of mind at the time, I’m not really sure!) Either way? Once I was back into it? I couldn’t put it down.
Tellulah Darling writes a fast paced, action packed story! Full of swoons, head slaps and a dozen other emotions! Her characters are lovable, her plot fun and these stories have a way of just sucking you in and making you escape reality for a few hours! (Which is exactly why I read!) If you’re a fan of YA and/or Greek Mythology (with an imagination for the retellings) this series is definitely for you!
