Now Cassie is determined to meet the man who’s always been missing from her life. Her mother warns her, being the long-lost daughter of a well-known NFL coach won’t be easy, but Cassie’s determined to stick it out. And before her life turns upside down, she wants one more night of fun. Starting quarterback for the Santa Fe Bobcats, Trey Owens is tired of being in the limelight. Lucky for him, the beautiful brunette he meets at the club isn’t a local. She has no idea who he is...and she’s down to party. Tomorrow, Cassie will think about her father. Tomorrow, she’ll think about her future. But tonight is for herself and the hottie she found on the dance floor. It’s a match made in heaven—if only for a night... Praise for Jeanette Murray: “Her characters and their challenges are relatable, and will inspire readers to fight for what they want in their own lives.”—RT Book Reviews “Fun to read...entertaining, thanks to Murray’s insights into the attraction of opposites.”—Booklist Jeanette Murray spends her days surrounded by hunky alpha men...at least in her imagination. In real life, she’s a wife and a mother, keeping tabs on her husband, her daughter, and the family dog on the outskirts of St. Louis.
I have to admit, I wasn’t sure what to expect when I first requested One Night with a Quarterback from Netgalley. I hadn’t read any of Jeanette Murray’s books, nor had I heard much about them. But I was in the mood for a sports romance, while I awaited the release of a few new books in some beloved series, so I thought I’d give it a try.
Oh my goodness. I adored this book. Trey was phenomenal from his first moment on the page. Cassie was pretty awesome herself . But what I loved most about these characters? How incredibly real they were. Not just the characters, but their relationship. They talked, about real things. They had real problems – and while they had insta-lust? The love came slowly. And? They even worked on their problems like real people do! *GASP*
But beyond the amazingly sweet romance? The side characters really make this book. Trey’s teammates are amazing, and I’m really hoping we get more from them in the near future! (Although book two isn’t about Josiah or Stephen, but Killian – who we only get a few glimpses of in this first book!) And then there’s Cassie’s sisters and best friend who also make amazing secondary plots!
Jeanette Murray’s writing is realistic and easy to get lost in the pages of. I don’t know how she flew under my radar for so long, but I cannot wait to get my hands on more of her work in the (VERY) near future! I would definitely recommend this book to fans of sports-themed romance! (Especially those who have enjoyed Jill Shalvis, Rachel Gibson and Jamie Davenport.)
