From New York Times bestselling author Susan Mallery comes the story of secret desires finally fulfilled… After a family tragedy, former football hero Jack McGarry keeps the world at arm's length—a challenge now that his PR firm has moved to neighborly Fool's Gold, California. Larissa Owens knows where she stands—Jack sees her as just another one of the guys. No matter what her heart wishes, Jack's her boss, not her boyfriend. But then Larissa's big secret is revealed…by her mother! When Jack discovers the truth about Larissa's feelings, her touch suddenly becomes tantalizing, and he's not sure he wants to resist. But if he gives in to desire, heartache is sure to follow. Friendship or true love—will Jack go for the ultimate play?
Susan Mallery and her Fool’s Gold series have been my go-to guilty pleasure for reading for four years now (since the first Fool’s Gold book, Chasing Perfect, was published in 2010.) This series showed me how magical a fictional town (based in reality) can be and has provided 15 books to escape into the pages of when I most needed it.
Until We Touch is one I’ve been anticipating – We’ve gotten to know Jack and Larissa in the past few books – Jack the former quarterback and his personal assistant Larissa, but more than that? They are best friends! (And in my mind, this makes for the best kind of romance!) The banter between them is beautiful, it’s simple and easy and comforting. And Jack already bends to Larissa’s eccentric whims. Everything between them is so easy that it’s perfect, except for the realization that they’ve fallen in love.
And as always, the rest of the townspeople are what really brings this story over the top. Their lives are so intertwined, it’s absolutely fantastic and it always leaves you wondering what’s coming next. To the point that I will be heartbroken when Susan Mallery eventually announces the end of this series.
Fool’s Gold is a place like none other. (In fact, check out Susan Mallery’s website – Fool’s Gold Town Website )- it’s like no other bookish community EVER!) I cannot give enough kuddos to Susan for this fantastic series. I look forward to my three books each summer, to escape into and hide in the pages. If you are a fan of contemporary romance, and have yet to pick up this series? What are you waiting for?
