It's been three years since the devastating accident . . . three years since Mia walked out of Adam's life forever. Now living on opposite coasts, Mia is Juilliard's rising star and Adam is LA tabloid fodder, thanks to his new rock star status and celebrity girlfriend. When Adam gets stuck in New York by himself, chance brings the couple together again, for one last night. As they explore the city that has become Mia's home, Adam and Mia revisit the past and open their hearts to the future-and each other. Told from Adam's point of view in the spare, lyrical prose that defined If I Stay, Where She Went explores the devastation of grief, the promise of new hope, and the flame of rekindled romance. Where She Went has been sitting on my Kindle for ages. (Actually, I bought it BEFORE I bought my current Kindle… so… yeah.) But with our recent Based on the Book – If I Stay, I not only re-read the first book but decided it was finally time to read the second.
I’m not sure why I waited so darn long! I love Adam. I adore Adam. And to have an entire book from his point of view? WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME!?!?! I thought my heart was broken by If I Stay, but to sit back and look at life “after”? I was not prepared for the emotions that were coming.
Of course we all expected Mia to need to grieve. That’s only expected. But Adam? I had no idea how much he may have gone through. I spent this book an emotional wreck over his situation. For half the book, my heart broke for him – Mia left with not so much as a goodbye, and he had to overcome that. (Or not, as he chose to just not really deal.) But then the other half? I wanted to smack him and tell him to grow up and get on with it!
But that said? Just as with it’s predecessor? Where She Went is an amazing love story – which at the heart of it? Is what I was wanting. I love Adam even more, if that’s possible! And the ending? Well… Yeah. Just read it!
