In KALONA'S FALL, the shadows in Kalonas past will finally come to light We will learn about the winged immortal's secret history and discover how he went from being the Goddess's Warrior and Guardian to her enemy and betrayer. Did Darkness taint Kalona as it did Neferet, or has the powerful immortal always preferred power over honor, and control over faith? This novella will be crucial to fans' understanding of Kalona, before his role in the explosive final installment of the House of Night, REDEEMED.
From the moment I first heard that there would be a novella about Kalona, I knew I had to read it. I found Kalona to be one of the most intriguing characters in the House of Night series, and I was excited to learn more about his back story.
I will say that Kalona’s Fall was not exactly the story I had been expecting, and for a good portion of the beginning of it, I was confused. It centered a lot on the creation of the gods and goddesses and centered on Nyx. I was surprised by how long it took for Kalona to even be introduced.
Once Kalona was introduced, I still found myself confused because it was so different from what I had been anticipating, but I also found myself growing very interested. Nothing about Kalona, Erebus, or Nyx was what I thought I knew about them, and I really liked that.
While Kalona’s Fall was not the most exciting installment in the House of Night series and nothing that I expected, I am very glad that I read it. It gave a lot more insight into Kalona’s character and made certain aspects of the following book make much more sense, so I would definitely recommend it.
