The year is 1957, and young Irma Rose has a choice to make. Marry the man who loves her? Or go after Jonas, the high-spirited, yet noncommittal man her heart loves?
Every once in awhile I love jumping into an Amish Romance – something about the simplistic lifestyle just makes me happy to escape from our technology filled chaos!
These four short stories while I wasn’t feeling well and my 2nd grader was begging for more time on her technology! I wish I could just escape into the Amish world for a little while – but I know I’d never survive their hard-working life! (So it’s fun to just romanticize about it through the pages for awhile.)
Beth Wiseman does a fantastic job with this collection of 4 novellas! I have to admit I struggle with collections like this because they often feel rushed, but that’s not the case with this set! These stories feel complete, they feel like I have ample time to get to know the characters, and while they leave me wishing they were longer? I feel like the story was told to completion.
Each of these four stories tugged at my heart, and pulled me into the story in a way that is rare for these types of books. Normally they just feel like fluff to me, just mind candy. But I really felt a connection and there were multiple times where I found myself unable to put the book down but wishing it wouldn’t finish!
This review is tough for me to write, i feel like I’ll give stuff away if I tell too much. So I’ll just leave you with this – if you’re a fan of Amish Romance? An Amish Year is a must-read!
