Earlier this year I discovered Alison Packard and her “Feeling the Heat” series! These books are sweet, sizzling and everything a Romnance Novel Junkie could ask for! So when I saw Breaking His Rules on Netgalley? I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it!! And it was worth the wait!
We got a brief glimpse of Jake in his brother, J.T.’s, book – Catching Heat! But I wasn’t prepared for how fantastic he would be on his own! (Although I shouldn’t have been surprised.) Jake has been training Melissa for over 9 months, and like most guys tend to be? He is totally clueless of his feelings toward her – which makes for a super fun read! I love when friends fall in love, and this book is no exception to that rule!
I love Jake and Melissa, but as always? I really feel like these books are made by the surrounding characters. In this case? It’s Melissa’s twin sister Paige and her cousin Shauna! (The drama that surrounds Shauna’s wedding is both incredibly hilarious and heartbreaking – as you watch several character transformations!) One thing I really love about Alison Packard is that she has amazing character development! Breaking His Rules is the perfect example, as not only Melissa and Jake grow, but their friends and family hit some amazing transformations too!
My only complaint about this is that we don’t get a glimpse of Matt and Kelley, from The Winning Season. I would have loved a brief update on them!
If you’re a fan of contemporary romance? You’ll love Breaking His Rules by Alison Packard! (And the best part? It can be read on it’s own or as part of this fantastic series! But either way? You won’t regret picking this one up!)
