SOMETIMES YOU CAN GO HOME AGAIN . . .
After an overseas mission goes wrong, Army Special Forces officer Jacob Kincaid knows where he must go to make things right: back home to the tiny town of Cedar Ridge, Colorado. All he needs to scrub away his painful past is fresh mountain air, a lakeside cabin, and quiet solitude. But what he discovers is a gorgeous woman living on a boat at his dock.
Sophie Marren has nowhere else to go. She's broke, intermittently seasick, and fighting a serious attraction to the brooding, dishy, I'm-too-sexy-for-myself guy who's now claiming her dock. Something about Jacob's dark intensity makes her want to tease-and tempt-him beyond measure. Neither one wants to give any ground . . . until they realize the only true home they have is with each other.
Jill Shalvis and her Cedar Ridge became a fast favorite of mine earlier this year – set in my home state and written by one of my favorite authors? I just knew this series would be a hit! And Book #3 in this series about the Kincaid Family was nothing short of fantastic!!
We’ve been built up about who the mysterious missing Jacob Kincaid is in the previous two stories, and I have to admit that I was hesitant to go into this book – afraid I would be bitter towards him for having left his family. (Afterall, I fell in love with Hud first. And Hud was so hurt by him that I felt I had an obligation to be hurt!) But I was pleasantly surprised, I might even go as far as to say that Jacob is my favorite Kincaid brother!
And Sophie? She was fantastic. She was strong-willed, kick ass and hilarious all at once. And while you felt bad for the predicaments she’d gotten herself in? You also felt sympathetic towards her as she had to deal with her ex-husband.
But in all the ways that I loved the story of Jacob and Sophie? (And there were many!!) I was a bit disappointed by the lack of interaction with the rest of the Kincaids. After all, we’d spent the last two books loving this family, and now they are just a small side bit.
Over all? Nobody But You is a fantastic addition to the Cedar Ridge series! (And just as fantastic as a “stand alone” since you don’t need much backstory to love these quirky and fantastic characters!
